'Life's a Breeze' secures US Release for Autumn
19 Aug 2014 | Lance Daly’s film Life’s a Breeze, starring Fionnula Flanagan (‘The Others’, ‘The Guard’) and Pat Shortt (‘Garage’, ‘Calvary’), will be released in the United States on September 19th. The film will be released in Los Angeles and New York as well as VOD, followed by a national rollout. The feature is a Fasnet Films production which Daly directed, wrote and produced, and Macdara Kelleher also produced.

‘What If’ Out in Irish Cinemas this Wednesday
18 Aug 2014 | Romantic comedy ‘What If’ is out on general release in Irish cinemas this Wednesday 20th August. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe, who was in Dublin last week for the film’s Irish premiere. Elia Kazan (‘Ruby Sparks’), Rafe Spall (‘Prometheus’), Adam Driver (‘Girls’) and Megan Park (‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’) also have starring roles.

‘Frank’ released in US Today
15 Aug 2014 | After meeting rave reviews at its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival (Kyle Smith of the New York Post described it as a “whimsical delight”), Lenny Abrahamson’s fourth feature ‘Frank’ will receive its highly anticipated release in the US this weekend. The film is a comedy about a wannabe musician who finds himself both in peril and in awe when he joins an electric rock band with a mysterious papier mache head wearing leader.

RTÉ Global’s Award-Winning ‘Somebody to Love’ Sells in Europe
22 Jul 2014 | RTÉ GLOBAL has licensed ‘Somebody to Love’, Wildfire Films’ candid documentary about the romantic lives of the disabled, to YLE Finland, TV4 Sweden, Channel 8 Israel and Indigenius for RTVE Spain. The announcement was made by Edel Edwards, head of programme sales for the Irish public broadcaster’s newly rebranded television sales arm.

‘GOLD’ to Hit Irish Cinemas This Autumn
17 Jul 2014 | IFTA winning Niall Heery’s latest film GOLD which stars Screen International’s ‘Star of Tomorrow’ Maisie Williams (‘Game of Thrones’), David Wilmot (‘Calvary’), Kerry Condon (‘The Runway’) and James Nesbitt (‘The Hobbit’) will be released in Irish cinemas this autumn. 11 Jul 2014 | Irish firm Wildcard Distribution has picked up a bundle of titles including Galway Film Fleadh features ‘Gold’ and ‘Get Up and Go’ (as previously reported on IFTN). Deals have also been confirmed for rom-com ‘Standby’ starring Brian Gleeson and and most recently, Ian Power’s ‘The Guarantee’.

‘Sing Street’ Secures Further Deals
30 May 2014 | As IFTN previously reported, ‘Sing Street’, the latest from ‘Once’ director-writer John Carney, was acquired for distribution in the US via a deal between sales company WME and Weinstein. It has since been confirmed that FilmNation, the firm responsible for international sales of the feature, has come close to selling out the feature after a very successful market at Cannes.
