3 Body Problem, starring Irish actor Liam Cunningham, will return with new episodes created, executive produced and written by the returning trio of David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo.
Last Night, during the Netflix Upfront presentation in New York City, Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria confirmed the 3 Body Problem series will continue past season one. All other details in regards to the number of seasons and episodes the series has been renewed for are under wraps, and set to be revealed at a later date. The drama series spent three weeks at No.1 on Netflix, and seven weeks on the Netflix Global Top 10, where it reached the Top 10 in 93 countries.
3 Body Problem starring Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones) comes from Emmy Award-winning creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones), and Emmy-nominated Alexander Woo (The Terror: Infamy, True Blood). The series is based on the international bestselling book trilogy, The Three-Body Problem.
The synopsis of the Netflix Original series is described as follows: “A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day. As the laws of nature unravel before their eyes, five former colleagues reunite to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.”
Cunningham is joined by an ensemble cast including Benedict Wong, Jess Hong, Jovan Adepo, Eiza González, Alex Sharp, John Bradley, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, Rosalind Chao, Marlo Kelly, Sea Shimooka, and Jonathan Pryce.
The series is executive produced by Benioff, Weiss, and Woo, along with Bernadette Caulfield, Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner, Rosamund Pike, Robie Uniacke, Lin Qi, Zhao Jilong, Fenfen Xu, and Xiasong Gao.
