Irish writer, Jonathan Farrelly has been selected for the prestigious MIDPOINT Writers’ Room at the Academy Of Performing Arts In Prague.
The course gives selected participants lectures tackling the organization of a writers' room, as well as addressing the structure of a pilot episode and season. Most of the workshop time is dedicated to a writers’ room simulation led by experienced professionals.
The course, one of the most highly regarded in Europe, has led to the development and creation of numerous TV series across Europe and will run from October 3rd – 10th.
Speaking on his selection, Farrelly said: “Absolutely delighted to be selected for the MIDPOINT Writers Room. The application process was actually quite rigorous, so I was pleasantly surprised when I got the selection email.
“So many talented people have done this course before me and went on to do great things all across the European TV landscape so I’m very excited to spend the week in Prague and really get into the nuts and bolts of the writers’ room,” the writer added. “The tutors are big industry hitters so it’s going to be of great benefit to work with these esteemed mentors and writers and bring all my new knowledge back to Irish writers rooms.”
Jonathan is currently a writer and Head Of Development with Tri Moon Films. He is writing the RTE drama series, Coercive with Anna Mannion, which is in development with RTE at the minute. They are also in development with the Netflix competition winning series, The Girl And The Ghost and the documentary feature The Inner Voice Of Tony Cascarino.
