Adare Productions’ ‘Fáilte Towers’, the reality show that challenged thirteen celebrities to run Ireland’s only 12-star hotel over a 16-day period in August 2008 on RTÉ, has raised a total of €169,762 for twelve Irish charities.
Funds raised by the series, which was broadcast between 2nd and 17th August, attracting audiences of up to a half a million and over per episode, will be delivered to charities in the next two weeks.
The public voted RTÉ’s John Creedon winner of the show and therefore the largest amount goes to his charity: €46,433 for ICU at Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin. Of the most recent RTÉ charity shows, ‘Celebrity Jigs N Reels’ in 2007 raised €128,780 over 8 shows for the nominated charities while last year’s RTÉ Telethon raised over €7.5 million for charities nationwide; €76,907.39 of that was raised via phone and text votes from ‘Celebrities Go Wild’.
