BBC Northern Ireland Series ‘Monumental’ To Shoot In Belfast
03 Sep 2012 : By Eva Hall
Comedian Adam Hills will front the BBC Northern Ireland show
Northern Irish production company Green Inc is gearing up to begin filming on new BBC NI panel show ‘Monumental’ on September 21.

The new comedy series, which will be hosted by Australian comedian Adam Hills, has been billed as paying “tribute to the people, places and things that make Northern Ireland what it is today”.

Six 30-minute episodes will be filmed over three days at BBC Northern Ireland studios in Blackstaff, Belfast, with filming wrapping on September 23.

Green Inc, based in Holywood, Co Down, has been in pre-production on the series since August 6.

Hills will be joined by Northern Irish comedians Jimeoin McKeown (The Extra), Mickey Bartlett (Find Me the Funny) and Michael Smiley (Shaun of the Dead), and Dublin comedian Andrew Maxwell (Wall of Fame), as well as a number of celebrity guests from the sport, entertainment and TV world.

Each show concludes with one of these celebrity guests receiving a comical tribute from the panel to mark their ‘monumental’ status.

Pati Marr (Ask Rhod Gilbert) will direct the episodes, while Stephen Stewart and Chris Jones of Green Inc will executive produce alongside Justin Binding for the BBC. Keith Martin (Sketchy) will produce with Green Inc’s head of production Helen Murray overseeing. David Noble is the AP, Simon Rogers the designer, and John Gallagher the lighting designer. Susan Lovell, head of local television, commissioned the series for BBC Northern Ireland.

Green Inc, the production company behind ‘Ask Rhod Gilbert’ and ‘The Daily Show’ on RTÉ, will work on post-production from September 24 to November 9. No air date has yet been set for ‘Monumental’, but it will air on BBC One Northern Ireland.
