The Bollywood film, 'Teraa Surroor' which was shot on location in Ireland last Autumn will go on release on March 11th across India, with director Shawn Arranha stating that he would love to make another Bollywood film in Ireland.
The film stars Shekar Kapur, who is best known as the director of Oscar-winning 1998 film ‘Elizabeth’, starring Cate Blanchett. Other actors include Himesh Reshammiya, Farah Karimaee, Kabir Bedi and Monica Dogra, all well-known actors in Bollywood. ‘Teraa Surroor’ is the next film in the franchise of the action film ‘Aap Kaa Surroor’, which made over $240m at the Box Office when it was released in 2007. This film also promises to be a box office success, with views for the trailer already crossing the six million mark on Youtube.
Irish Line Producer on the film was Dark Window Media’s Kathy Horgan (‘North Circular Road’), who hopes this film could open the door to more Bollywood projects shooting in Ireland. “ Dark Window Media were delighted to work with the talented cast and crew of ‘Teraa Surroor’. Long term, we could be seen as a city for other Bollywood film productions. The chance to showcase Dublin to an audience of a billion people globally can only raise the profile of Ireland as a film location.”
In the film, Himesh plays the role of Raghu, who is on a mission to save his girfriend from imprisonment in Dublin, after she was wrongly framed by an unknown person named Anirudh Brahmin.
Speaking about filming in Ireland, director Shawn Arranha said: “Shooting in Ireland was amazing, the visuals and the locations in and around Dublin city is what has made ‘Terra Surroor’ look so grand and stylish. Working with Kathy and the team was great, they enabled me shoot my film so smoothly, that I would love to come back and make another film in Ireland. This is just the beginning.”
