Irish Short ‘Tiger’ Continues Post-Production Overseas

Irish short film ‘Tiger’ is currently in post production around the world after a successful funding campaign on public funding website Fund it.

Freelance editor Derek Keating (The Guards) is currently editing the short in a Florida-based production house, while New Zealand-based Lorraine McCarthy will work on the sound mix before it is sent to Emmy-nominated composer Joseph Conlan in LA.

‘Tiger’ was filmed over two days at Wooly Ward’s Farm in Dublin last February. Eilis Mernagh wrote the script, which went on to be shortlisted in the script competition at the Waterford Film Festival in 2011, and co-produced the short with Underground Cinema Festival-winner Cathal Nally (Voices). Nally also directed the film, while director of photography was Donnacha Coffey.

‘Tiger’ shows a kidnap plot unfold when a wealthy bank manager’s wife and children are held hostage by a criminal gang. The cast sees ‘Fair City’ star Vivienne Connolly play mother Michelle, who is in fear for her children’s safety, (played by newcomer Cerys Hughes and ‘The Clinic’ star Jamie Gleeson-Dunn) alongside Stephen Cromwell (The Late Men).

Post production is scheduled for completion in mid May. Mernagh plans to screen the short in Dublin city centre cinema at the end of May and dispatch to the festival circuit in the hopes of nabbing a distributor. For a sneak peek of ‘Tiger’ check out the trailer here.
