'The Runway' Begins Shooting in Cork
Shooting of new Irish film 'The Runway' has got underway in Goleen and Schull, Co. Cork. The film is written and directed by Ian Power, produced by Macdara Kelleher and stars Mexican actor Demián Bichir (Che, Weeds) alongside Irish actress Kerry Condon (Angela's Ashes, Rome). more

Alan Gilsenan's latest venture, 'The Yellow Bittern', is a feature length documentary which paints an intimate portrait of the folk singer Liam Clancy, the only remaining member of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and has been five years in the making. more
TG4 Launches Autumn Schedule
TG4 yesterday released their autumn schedule which is set to include the new contemporary drama series from director Robert Quinn, 'Rásaí na Gaillimhe', set during the Galway Race Week and starring Don Wycherley, Tom ó Suilleabháin, Charlotte Bradley and Owen Roe. more
'Death or Canada' & 'Tudors' For Gemini Awards
Irish productions have received nominations at the Gemini Awards with World 2000's dramatised recounting of the life of Henry Tudor in 'The Tudors' receiving ten nominations and Tile Films (Ireland) and Ballinran Productions (Canada) receiving four for 'Death or Canada', the two part HD Famine series. more
'His & Hers', 'A Shine of Rainbows' Selected For London FF
Ken Wardrop's feature documentary 'His & Hers' and Vic Sarin's feature 'A Shine of Rainbows' have been selected for screening at the Times BFI London Film Festival (14 - 29 October). Two Irish shorts from Titled Pictures have also been selected. more

Xtra-vision Sold for $45m
Blockbuster Entertainment has sold Xtra-vision, its retail chain in Ireland, to local consortium Birchhall Investments Ltd in a deal worth up to $45m. more
Telegael Receive Cartoon Tributes Nomination
The Cartoon Forum 2009 have announced their nominations in various categories in the Cartoon Tributes 2009 competition. Irish companies Telegael Media Group, and previously announced Brown Bag Films, and have both received nods for their respective efforts. This is the twentieth year of the event. more
Shooting Commences on Tyrone's 'God's Mission'
RTÉ has commissioned Tyrone Productions to produce 'On God's Mission', a project directed and produced by Ruán Magan that is currently shooting and is to be edited at Windmill Lane in November. more
European Film Awards 2009 Film Choices Revealed
The European Film Academy and EFA Productions have announced the titles of the 48 films that have been recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2009. With 25 countries included in the diverse list of films, Ireland is represented by the IFTA winning 'Kisses' written and directed by Lance Daly. more
Kinsale Shark Awards Launch September 11
The Kinsale Shark Awards launch tomorrow, 11 September, in the town of Kinsale, Co. Cork. Once again the awards will seek to reward advertising agencies who are seen to pride creativity above all else. This will be done through several categories including Worldwinners, Print, Digital, Broadcasts, Promo, New Directors and the Baby Shark award presented to new creative talent. more
FáS Screen Training Ireland Seeks Script Editors
FáS Screen Training Ireland is seeking two script editing participants for its Story Development for Film & Television course. These two participants will work with the writers on the course, under the tutelage of Valery Ryan, who has worked as a script editor on such shows as 'Cracker' and 'Prime Suspect', and leads the two courses for script editors run by BBC Training. more
Soderbergh Bringing 'Knockout' To Ireland?
Director Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Thirteen) is set to shoot scenes for his next project, a spy thriller entitled 'Knockout', on locations in Ireland. more
