Actress and writer Sharon Horgan has added to her very impressive trophy haul in the past 12 months by winning Best Writer Comedy (along with co-writer Rob Delaney) for acclaimed Channel 4 series ‘Catastrophe’.
Horgan is also nominated for Best Female Performance at the BAFTA Television Awards on May 8th for her lead role on the show. Her work on ‘Catastrophe’ has already earned her a Creative Skillset Writing Award at the Women in Film and TV Awards as well as two IFTA Television Awards (for writing and acting in the show).
Horgan’s increasingly busy slate includes developing a new comedy pilot called ‘The Circuit’ for Channel 4 starring Eva Birthistle and co-written by Graham Linehan. She has also recently shot HBO’s ‘Divorce’ starring Sarah Jessica Parker in the lead role – which she created and Exec Produced. She is also developing another comedy for Channel 4 with Irish actress Aisling Bea.
Other Irish talent nominated at the BAFTA Craft Television Awards include DoP John Conroy for ‘Fortitude’ and director Aisling Walsh for ‘An Inspector Calls’.
