This is one of the most attractive road bridges in Cork. Made out of Limestone and with a detailed parapet it is a classic example of a 19th Century bridge in the classical style. It also benefits from a very central location and has fine views both East to the impressive Fr. Matthew Church and the RTE building (an old Deco style Gas Works), and West over a weir towards the Nano Nagle Footbridge.
It is a busy place though for both traffic and pedestrians as it forms a key link between the South side of the City and the City centre Island. Great for pieces to camera and establishing shots at quiet times.
