Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral is situated in the centre of Cork City, Ireland. Designed by William Burges and consecrated in 1870, the Cathedral lies on a site where it is said that the great Saint decided to lay the first stones of his Monastery and around it grew the entire City.

The Cathedral is suitably huge and impressive, with incredibly detailed stone figures adorning the entrance and tall spires towering upwards. The interior is ornate & vast, so it is easy to overlook the oasis of calm that is the old graveyard and grounds, which is well worth checking out. You would not believe you were in the middle of the City when standing among the mature trees.

The cathedral is built of Cork limestone and the interior of Bath stone and the walls are lined with red Cork marble. A very impressive location.
