This is a fascinating and visually intriguing area of the City. It is one of the earliest settlements and has a labyrinth of narrow, medieval streets and alleyways running through it. Set in the middle is the iconic Shandon Church and Bell Tower whose bells are world famous. Indeed the image of the Tower is often used to represent the City internationally. However, there are many more visual delights to this area and a walk through the slender streets is well worthwhile for film makers. Many of the small houses are authentic and have been used in major Feature Films for their old style charachter. Although famous, it is very much a living place with a proud inner city population living there & frequenting the local pubs.
