The County Library, Tallaght, which reopened in April 2008 following a major refurbishment programme, is in the heart of the cultural quarter of the Tallaght Town Centre, which includes the Civic Theatre, the Big Picture and Rua Red Art Centre. The Library is located adjacent to the Square Shopping Centre and at the terminus of the Luas Red Line. The County Library is a light filled, spacious, customer-orientated, double height building which includes a junior library, local studies section, dedicated ICT area, conference facilities, and a digital learning suite. The County Library is included in a European database for inspirational libraries.

Clondalkin and Whitechurch Libraries are Carnegie Libraries designed by reputed architect T.J. Byrne in the Arts and Crafts style. Both opened their doors to the public in 1911 and both still operate as libraries today. Clondalkin Library is located on the Monastery Road, complete with its own Tower and (reputed) ghost! Whitechurch Library is located on Taylorís Lane in Rathfarnham. Most Irish Carnegie Libraries were designed by distinguished architects which inventively resulted in beautiful buildings, and Clondalkin and Whitechurch Libraries are no different.

Lucan Library is a full-time library in the Superquinn Shopping Centre in Lucan. The library was opened to the public in November 2000. It is a bright modern building on the first floor of the Superquinn Shopping Centre and is accessible by lift. It has a large children's area and a seminar room which can be booked by local community groups. Castletymon Library is a vibrant library situated in the heart of the community in Castletymon Shopping Centre on the Tymon North
