Sunburn is the story of three Irish students working in Montauk, Long Island and how each one negotiates their summer of freedom. The film begins in Dublin, where Davin tries to escape the responsibilities of home and begin a new life in the US.
Travelling to Long Island, he meets up with Robert who has just landed a job with a lonely woman in her thirties, and Aideen who works for a taxi company. Sunburn centres on Davin as he stumbles from one crisis to another, his lack of responsibility and indifference to the people around him, stretching his friends patience.
