Paddy Maguire is a notorious womanizer, who has affairs with up to five women simultaneously. He falls in love with Maureen but makes no serious effort to remain faithful. When Maureen become pregnant, she sleeps with Paddy's enemy, Willie Egan so she can blame him for the pregnancy. Paddy accepts this situation as he believes marriage to Maureen would not last long, and he happily continues his philandering.
