The Day of the Jackal has started its seven-month shoot, with filming taking place in at least four European countries.
Eddie Redmayne (The Good Nurse) leads the series based on both the 1971 Frederick Forsyth novel about an assassin contracted to kill French president Charles de Gaulle, and the subsequent 1973 film adaptation of the same name from Universal Pictures.
The production will be shooting in London, Budapest, Croatia, and Austria.
Irish screenwriter and novelist Ronan Bennett (Top Boy, Gunpowder, Public Enemies) is the writer and showrunner of the upcoming TV adaptation.
Day of the Jackal is directed by Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones, Luther, Boardwalk Empire), and produced by Carnival Pictures (Downton Abbey, The Lost Kingdom) which is part of Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group.
The series was commissioned by Sky Studios and Peacock, and is executive produced by Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant for Carnival, and by Sam Hoyle for Sky Studios. Christopher Hall will also produce.
The series will be available on Sky in Ireland, the UK, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and on Peacock in the US.
