Personal Skills:

The successful candidate must have strong leadership and communication skills, excellent attention to detail and practical hands-on technical ability. They will need to be punctual, calm, flexible and have the ability to work well under pressure. They should have the capacity to quickly adapt to new systems, technologies and operational procedures. They should be methodical and fast at problem solving.

Qualifications and Experience:

They should ideally possess a technical qualification in a related technical field (e.g. Electronic Engineering and/or IT) or the equivalent multi-year experience in a related environment (e.g. MCR, Dubbing, Editing, etc). Previous supervisory experience in a technical broadcast environment is desirable.

Working Hours:

Working hours will be shift-based and will include some overnights, weekends and bank holidays.

Key Duties:

• 1st Line technical support outside of office hours.
• Liaising with the TV channel personnel on the resolution of transmission issues.
• Quality control of incoming media and broadcast monitoring of outgoing channels.
• Supervising existing transmission staff and training of new staff.
• Organising staff rosters and arranging cover for staff on sick or annual leave.
• Standing-in as Transmission Operator on unattended channels when necessary.
• Fault finding and troubleshooting of technical equipment.
• Advance tuning of satellite decoders with the correct parameters.
• Acting as technical director for live and pre-recorded studio programmes.
• Writing technical procedural documents.
• Manning the Master Control Room (MCR).
• Installation and termination of new cabling.
• Installation and testing of new equipment and systems.
• Carrying out File Transfers, Video File Transcoding and Final Cut Pro basic editing.
• Audio Mixing of off-tube commentary.
• Liaising with 3rd party facilities around the world.
