Wild Rover's 'Secret Fortune' Re-Commissioned
30 Mar 2011 :
Secret Fortune
BBC Entertainment has re-commissioned Wild Rover’s Saturday night format, ‘Secret Fortune’. The new eight-part series produced by the Belfast production company will be recorded at BBC Scotland's Pacific Quay studios for BBC One this summer and will again be hosted by Nick Knowles (DIY SOS).

The first series of ‘Secret Fortune’, the National Lottery gameshow format, started its broadcast last month and good audience figures have lead to the re-commissioning of the series. Produced by Matthew Worthy (BBC’s Get Smarter in a Week), ‘Secret Fortune’ sees a pair of contestants teamed with 24 envelopes with different hidden amounts of prize money inside. Depending on how well the contestants answer a series of questions the envelopes are gradually eliminated until only one remains – the ‘Secret Fortune’ of the title.

The second series of 'Secret Fortune's is to be executive produced by Wild Rover's Philip Morrow (Just for Laughs) and the series producer will be John Ireland (Golden Balls). The series will be directed by Chris Power (Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway) and will shoot in Pacific Quay in Glasgow later this year. The post production of the show is to take place in Wild Rover’s Belfast studios in June with the series’ editors TBC.

The series was re-commissioned by Controller of BBC One, Danny Cohen; Controller of Entertainment Commissioning, Mark Linsey and Executive Editor for Entertainment, Alan Tyler. The latter voiced his delight at supporting the production companies behind both ‘Secret Fortune’ and another series re-commissioned, ‘Tonight’s the Night’ saying: "We are delighted to re-commission these shows, which will continue to be made in Scotland and Northern Ireland. They are first and foremost great programmes. Their re-commissions are fantastic news not only for the viewers who love them, but also for the in-house and independent production companies involved and for the local economy."
