One of the IFI’s flagship festivals, the festival will run over five days this year from September 27th to October 1st. The festival will showcase the finest original international documentary films alongside Irish documentary-makers with 16 feature length documentaries, seven Irish premieres, and the world premiere of Kevin Roche: The Quiet Architect.

Bridging the Gap is one of the leading documentary new talent initiatives in the UK, offering intensive training and commission opportunities to emerging UK-based filmmakers. The programme helps the filmmakers to develop their 10-minute documentary projects and gives them the chance to work closely with industry professionals and SDI over a period of nine months. Previous tutors include Jennifer Fox, Margarida Cardoso, Nicolas Phillibert, Nick Broomfield, Phie Ambo, Thierry Garrel.

OFFline Film Festival is an exciting event for film lovers and makers alike. Irish and international films are screened in an array of quirky venues around the town to enthusiastic audiences. Every year we accept short films from all over the world to be entered into our short film competition. Prizes include Best Irish Short which wins a guaranteed distribution deal to over 80 official film clubs across Ireland; Best International Short and the Audience Award.

Reel Art is an Arts Council scheme designed to provide film artists with a unique opportunity to make highly creative, imaginative and experimental documentaries on an artistic theme. Operated in association with Filmbase and the Audi Dublin International Film Festival, Reel Art will support two films with a grant of €70-80,000 per project.

Deadline for Reel Art 2017: Friday 13th October 2017 at 5pm.

Hardcopy applications must be submitted to Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 and received by the deadline in order to be eligible for consideration.

Film artists interested in applying for Reel Art are invited to attend an information session on the scheme on Tuesday 5th September at 3pm in Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2. This session will outline the purpose and priorities of the award and will answer questions on the scheme. Anyone interested in attending should register their interest by sending an email to reelart @ filmbase.ie.

Kerry Film Festival (KFF) is an internationally recognised short film festival which takes place in Killarney, Co. Kerry from 19th - 22nd October 2017. KFF is renowned for celebrating the work of young filmmaking talent through a well established and lively short film competition that has been supported and endorsed by luminaries from the world of film such as Cillian Murphy, director Paul Greengrass, Jeremy Irons, Liam Neeson, and Gabriel Byrne. Over the past 17 years KFF has become a vital element of Kerry’s cultural landscape offering a unique film experience to the local community as well as creating a ‘must attend’ cultural tourism event for visitors to the county.
