The Irish premiere of John Simpson’s film ‘Freeze Frame’ starring Lee Evans and Sean McGinley was held in Belfast last week with cast and crew present to celebrate this sophisticated example of Irish movie making at it’s best.
The film, written and directed by John Simpson and produced by Michael Casey, was co-funded by the NIFTC and filmed entirely on location in Belfast’s disused Crumlin Road Jail. Lee Evans plays an ultra-paranoid murder suspect who videotapes himself around the clock so he’ll have a rock-solid alibi if he’s ever accused of another crime.
The Premiere, held in The Odyssey Cinemas in Belfast, was organised by the NIFTC and held in association with Green Park Films. Almost 200 industry people gathered together in the cinema for its first viewing.
Richard Williams, the NIFTC’s Chief Executive, opened the evening by congratulating all involved on making the first entirely indigenous Northern Ireland film.
Freeze Frame is scheduled for general release in June 18th 2004.
