Channel 4 series Derry Girls, written by Lisa McGee, has been nominated for the 2023 International Emmy Awards.
Nominations for the 2023 International Emmy Awards have been announced by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. There are 56 Nominees across 14 categories and spanning 20 countries.
Over the course of three seasons Derry Girls followed the personal exploits of a 16-year-old girl and her family and friends during the Troubles in early 1990s Northern Ireland, taking inspiration from writer Lisa McGee’s own experiences growing up during this time.
Derry Girls came to an end last year with a 45-minute special episode titled The Agreement, set in 1998 during the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. The series has received numerous awards since, including two IFTAs and three BAFTAs. IFTN sat down with Lisa McGee earlier this year to discuss the show’s conclusion, and what she plans to do next.
All Nominees will convene in New York at The International Emmy World Television Festival for Nominee Panels & Presentations and special events, from November 17th to 19th, the weekend before the awards ceremony.
Winners will be announced at the 51st International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City, on Monday, November 20, 2023.
