Variety has announced its 10 Actors to Watch for 2023, among them is Irish actor Alison Oliver.
Every year, Variety announces its 10 Actor to Watch list, the alumni of which include more than 35 Oscar winners and nominees. Even just looking at Variety’s 2013 list in isolation exemplifies how many of the alumni have become celebrated and well-known figures in the industry: Brie Larson (Room, Captain Marvel), Lea Seydoux (No Time To Die, The French Dispatch), Michael B. Jordan (Creed trilogy, Black Panther), and Oscar Isaac (Dune, The Card Counter).
Alison Oliver is a rising star from Cork, who made her screen debut in 2022 as Frances in the Element Pictures television adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Conversations with Friends. Other recent screen work includes the BBC series Best Interests, in which she starred alongside Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon) and Irish actors Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters) and Niamh Moriarty (Silver), and short film Sound & Colour written and directed by Emma Foley, producer of It Is In Us All and Redemption of A Rogue.
Her upcoming work includes Saltburn, the sophomore feature of Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) starring Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Jacob Elordi (Priscilla), and The Order, a crime thriller starring Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley), Nicholas Hoult (About a Boy), and Marc Maron (Joker).
