Gorilla Post-Production Announce the Addition of Mark Fitzpatrick Following the Studio's First Daytime Emmy Nomination
05 Apr 2018 : Nathan Griffin
Founder and Audio Engineer at Gorilla Post Production, Barry Reid, has received a Daytime Emmy nomination for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for an Animated Programme’ ahead of the 45th Daytime Emmy Awards, which take place in April.

Reid picked up the nomination for his work on a 14 x 22 Amazon Prime series and explains to IFTN that “I’m delighted. To be recognised at The Emmy’s is really special. It’s fantastic news not just for me but for my whole team. Nikki Moss is the sound effects editor on the show with Shane O’Toole doing additional editing on the busier episodes. They both deserve a lot of credit.”

This news comes following last week’s announcement that Gorilla has taken on Senior Audio Engineer, Mark Fitzpatrick from Screen Scene. Fitzpatrick was 20 years at the firm before deciding to join Gorilla. With an extensive client base some of Fitzpatrick’s recent mixing credits include: ‘First Dates’, ‘Operation Transformation’, ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’, ‘Ireland’s Got Talent’, ‘Dragon’s Den’, to name just a few. His film / drama ADR credits include the likes of ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Viking’s and recent Oscar nominee ‘Ladybird’.

Speaking to IFTN Fitzpatrick says of his appointment:

“I’m delighted to join the team at Gorilla Post. It’s an amazingly creative company, with really talented people in both audio & picture post. I’m really looking forward to using my experience and skills, to help develop an even stronger team, delivering second to none results for our ever-expanding client base. There are a few new audio toys that I’m really looking forward to putting on my mixes. It’s a pleasure to be part of the team”.

Gorilla MD Barry Reid explains his own thinking behind the appointment:

“Mark has been on our radar for some time now. He seemed like the perfect fit because of his exceptional experience in broadcast. His credits speak for themselves and we’re extremely happy to have him on board. With our combined strengths in broadcast we plan to grow that side of the business even more.”

Gorilla is also working on the upcoming Disney animation series - ‘Space Chickens in Space’. The post-production company will cover the voice recording, sound design & mix on the show, which has a strong Irish contingent. The series, which is being done in 50x11min & 11x2 min episodes, is a co-production between Cake Entertainment in the UK, Studio Moshi in Melbourne, and Anima in Mexico. IFTN also reported on the addition of Hot Drop Films’ Alan Keane & Shane Perez as story editors last month.

Speaking with IFTN, Gorilla MD Barry Reid told the website that the company will also begin work on another upcoming Amazon series called ‘Bug Diaries’in June. The show will be a 14x22 format, and will see the post production company cover full audio and picture post on the series.

“It’s hectic but super exciting, especially due to the calibre of the shows we’re involved in. We’ll be working right through 2018 on these projects and into 2019."

The 45th Daytime Emmy Awards take place on April 27th in the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, California.
