Irish funded feature film ‘Beyond the Fire’ directed and scripted by Irish filmmaker Maeve Murphy has been awarded the top prize of Best UK Feature at the London Independent Cinema Awards. On the back of the award, the film will be released in cinemas in the UK on June 17, 2009 by Met Film Distribution.
Maeve Murphy and cast including Scot Williams and Cara Seymour were present at the Coronet Cinema, Notting Hill, to receive the award.
Centering on a love story between a girl and an ex-priest, ‘Beyond the Fire’ also features a soundtrack with music from Irish folk band Kila and Chris O’Neill. The film was produced by Helen Alexander and executive produced by Frank Mannion and David Game. Swipe Films are handling worldwide sales. The film received development monies from the Irish Film Board and Northern Irish Screen and will also receive UK Film Council P&A funding to support its release in June.

Maeve Murphy wrote and directed the award winning film ‘Savage Grace’. Scot Williams will next be seen as ‘Clubbed and The Crew’ and his co-star, Cara Seymour, recently starred in the Sundance hit ‘An Education’ with other credits including ‘The Savages’ and ‘Hotel Rwanda’.
