Ní Nuadháin New Deputy Director of TV Programmes
20 Sep 2010 | RTÉ Television has announced the appointment of Mairéad Ní Nuadháin to the position of Deputy Director of Programmes. Mairéad, formerly RTÉ’s Commissioning Editor of Irish Language, Multiculture and Education will now take over from Mary Curtis who has moved to the position of Director of Digital Switchover.

17 Sep 2010 | An Taoiseach Brian Cowen TD this week launched ‘1916 Seachtar na Cásca’, a new series profiling each of the 1916 Proclamation signatories. The 7 x one hour series starts on Wednesday, September 22nd.

Straywave Stops ‘Living Off Mum’
16 Sep 2010 | Straywave Media is currently in production with ‘Young, Dumb and Living off Mum’. The new series follows a group of young adults who've been waited on hand and foot their whole lives as they move in together and learn to fend for themselves. The series will shoot in and around Dublin until the end of September.

Sports Broadcaster Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh Retires
16 Sep 2010 | It has been announced that Sports broadcaster, Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh, will commentate on his last All-Ireland Final this Sunday. Audiences have enjoyed Micheál’s commentaries for the last seven decades but the commentator, who turned 80 last month, is now set to retire.

RTÉ Launches RTÉjr & TRTÉ
14 Sep 2010 | From Monday, September 20th RTE's children's output will become RTEjr for 6 year olds and younger between 8.30am to 3pm, and TRTÉ for 7 to15 year olds from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. The two new programme blocks will replace the format of The Den – one that has run for the last 24 years.

'Barbaric Genius' Post Begins
14 Sep 2010 | Editing has just started on the Screenworks/RTÉ documentary, ‘Barbaric Genius’ – an exploration of the life and work of Irish author of ‘The Grass Arena’, John Healy. The feature documentary began shooting in 2007 and has been in production/development for almost five years.

Setanta Sports Calls for Programming Ideas
09 Sep 2010 | Setanta Sports are currently inviting programming proposals from independent production companies for potential submission to Round 10 of the BAI Sound and Vision Fund. The broadcaster has said that all formats and genres will be considered. The deadline for receipt of the programming proposals is September 24th.

RTÉ Looks For Scientist Reports & Christmas Shorts
08 Sep 2010 | RTÉ Young Peoples Programmes wish to commission both a series of Christmas 'Shorts' which will be broadcast throughout the Young peoples' schedule on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Stephens Day and a series of reports highlighting the build-up to the Young Scientist Competition 2011, for broadcast weekly as part of Two Tube from early November 2010, and on our YPP Young Scientist website online.

RTÉ Commissioning for Daytime, Lifestyle & Irish Series
06 Sep 2010 | Following on from the station’s drama call for submissions last week, RTÉ Daytime and Lifestyle, RTÉ Lifestyle Programmes for the BAI and RTÉ Cláracha Gaeilge for BAI are calling for ideas for two to three Sunday night slots in spring and autumn 2011, pre-watershed programming and up to 12 programmes for potential submission to BAI Sound & Vision Round 10 respectively.

Hoskins, Friel & Ifans Filming 'Neverland' in Ireland
06 Sep 2010 | Cameras will roll at the end of this week on the Dublin set of Parallel Films’ ‘Neverland’ a two-part prequel to the Peter Pan story commissioned by Sky Movies HD starring Oscar nominee Bob Hoskins (Hook, Made in Dagenham), Golden Globe nominee Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies, Bathory) and BAFTA nominee Rhys Ifans (Not Only but Always).

Positive Findings in ILBF Final Evaluation Report

The report’s findings include significant positive impacts of the ILBF, in terms of economic and cultural outcomes, on both the independent production sector and stakeholders in Northern Ireland, since its creation in 2005.

Dave McSavage Gives Ireland 'The Savage Eye'
06 Sep 2010 | Shooting is underway on the set of the second series of the IFTA nominated comedy series, ‘The Savage Eye’. Shooting in and around Dublin and Wicklow for the next five weeks and directed by Kieron J. Walsh (Raw), the series will see the return of Dave McSavage (Dental Breakdown) alongside his co-writer John Colleary (Touching People) and his fellow impressionists Pat McDonnell (Father Ted) and Dermot McMurrow (Emily’s Song).

The first show of the new season will feature Tony Blair, Donncha O’Callaghan, Jedward and Imelda May. Ryan's first season as host proved a big success, attracting good ratings along with hosting the most successful Toy Show in 15 years.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, September 17th and the broadcaster intends to review TV dramas and feature films that have a resonance for an RTÉ One audience for the next BAI round - closing 5th November 2010.
