Grand Pictures has released the first look trailer for Ian Fitzgibbon’s dark comedy ‘Dark Lies The Island’.
Written by Irish author Kevin Barry and based around characters he created for his own short story collection, Ian Fitzgibbon’s (‘Death of a Superhero’) dark comedy centres on a small Irish town over a week-long period.
If you’re going get involved with men in a small Irish town, they might as well be the Mannions - and Sara is involved up to her neck. The Mannions are a feuding family in the town of Dromord who are all set at each other. Sara is married to Daddy Mannion but holding a candle for her first love, his son Doggy. When she also gets involved with his brother, trouble looms.
The film features an impressive Irish cast including Peter Coonan (‘Penance’), Moe Dunford (‘Handsome Devil’), Charlie Murphy (‘Philomena’), Pat Shortt (‘Garage’), Tommy Tiernan (‘Derry Girls’), while newcomer Jana Mohieden fleshes out this unique on-the-nose observations about Irish life. Michael Garland of Grand Pictures’ produced, Cathal Watters (‘Viva’) is DOP, Stephen O'Connell is editor, Leonie Prendergast is Costume Designer, Jeffrey Sheriff is Production Designer and it is casted by Louise Kiely.
‘Dark Lies the Island’ is supported by Screen Ireland, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, RTÉ, Quickfire (UK), EGG Studios Ltd and Section 481.
The film is set to premiere at DIFF on Wednesday, February 27th.
