Foster and Allen’s New TG4 Series
06 Jun 2014 | Following on from the success of their TG4 series last year, Mick Foster and Tony Allen return with a new 13 week series of ‘The Foster and Allen Show’. Featuring music and song recorded in the TG4 studios, the series starts this Sunday 8th June on TG4 and is repeated on Wednesday nights.

RTÉ Sport Launches 2014 FIFA World Cup Coverage
06 Jun 2014 | RTÉ Sport has just announced details of its 2014 FIFA World Cup coverage across television, radio, online and mobile. There will be live coverage of all 64 games across RTÉ television, RTÉ Player and RTÉ.ie, amounting to over 180 hours of live coverage, including 25 highlights shows. There will also be new panellists on board.

VStream Offers R&D, Interactive Video Content and Innovation
06 Jun 2014 | VStream is a part of a group of companies that consists of an advertising agency, a content creator and an experiential developer. It was founded five years ago by Niall O’Driscoll and Andrew Jenkinson as a video and software production company specialising in marketing and corporate communications. VStream creates content with animators, producers, writers and directors all readily available. The company shoots on location or animates in-house.

RTÉ Summer Schedule 2014
04 Jun 2014 | For summer 2014, RTÉ’s television schedule promises new series, documentaries, family shows and exciting sports programmes. Between RTÉ One, RTÉ Two and RTÉjr, a variety of programmes are on offer including brand new series like ‘Callan’s Kicks’, ‘How to be Happy’, ‘The Shelbourne’, and children’s series ‘Boj and Buddies’. RTÉ favourites like ‘The Rose of Tralee’ and ‘Saturday Night with Miriam’ will also return.

Irish Language Broadcast Funding Deadline Extended
03 Jun 2014 | The second round deadline for applying for the Irish Language Broadcast Fund (ILBF) has been extended to 12pm on Friday 25th July 2014. The scheme offers both development and production funding for a wide range of TV genres.

Storyland 2014 Offers More Opportunities than Ever Before
30 May 2014 | Storyland is the umbrella for new series of commissioned web drama and is hosted on the RTÉ Player. The programme offers filmmakers the opportunity to develop a series of webisodes and for its fifth season, IFTN spoke with Drama Development Executive of RTÉ Drama David Crean and Louise Ryan from the Irish Film Board about Storyland 2014.

Ben Robson Joins Season 3 of ‘Vikings’
29 May 2014 | History has added cast to its first and only original series ‘Vikings’. It has been confirmed that British actor Ben Robson has landed a series regular role for Season 3 of the drama series. The first two seasons of ‘Vikings’ were shot in Co. Wicklow, with production in Luggala and Ashford Studios, and the third season will begin filming in Ireland at the beginning of June.

BAI Launches Public Consultation on TV Rules
26 May 2014 | The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) today launched a public consultation on proposed changes to rules governing the levels of subtitling, sign language and audio-description that Irish television broadcasters must offer to the public. The new rules will update the current Access Rules in place since 2005 and last reviewed in 2012.

‘Man on Bridge’ Documentary to Screen on RTÉ in Late 2014
23 May 2014 | What began as a project that collects photos and tells the story of Arthur Fields, a street photographer who stood on O’Connell Bridge for fifty years, has grown into something much bigger than originally imagined. The scheme was launched at the end of March with over 4000 images received in six weeks via the online platform and official website.

‘Corp + Anam’ Wraps Post-Production
22 May 2014 | Post-production has just been completed on the second series of ‘Corp + Anam’. The drama is a 4x1 hour series produced by Magamedia for TG4. It stars Diarmuid de Faoite (‘Ros na Rún’, ‘Scúp’) and Maria Doyle Kennedy (‘Orphan Black’, ‘Dexter’, ‘The Tudors’) in the lead roles. The second season continues to follow the story of crime correspondent Cathal Mac Iarnáin as he pursues the truth and investigates corruption in Ireland.

Submissions Open for Storyland 2014
21 May 2014 | RTÉ’s Storyland returns for a fifth season to again give filmmakers the opportunity to develop a series of webisodes. Storyland is the umbrella for new series of commissioned web drama and is hosted on the RTÉ Player. Storyland 2014 will commission five series of 4x6 minute episodes with a budget of €30k per series.

‘Seoidíní Staire’ Airs on TG4 Tomorrow Night at 8pm
21 May 2014 | ‘Seoidíní Staire’ is a new Irish language series that sees a pop-up museum come to six towns across Ireland for one day. Produced by Waddell Media, and presented by Mairead Ni Chuinneagáin, the series begins at 8pm on Thursday 22nd May on TG4.

NITV To Distribute Rankin Film Productions Shorts Internationally
20 May 2014 | NITV have announced that they have agreed on a deal with the London-based production company Rankin Film Productions (RFP) that started in 2011 as the Collabor8te scheme. Initially eight projects from writers, and writer/directors in both the UK and Ireland were selected and given production finance. These titles have now reached the end of their run on the international festival circuit, some of them, like the animated short ‘The Hungry Corpse’, with considerable success. NITV will now be handling these films for international distribution to TV and VOD platforms worldwide.

15 May 2014 | TV3 launches its second series of the hit TV show ‘The Great Irish Bake Off’. The new series will be returning to Irish screens on Wednesday 21st May at 9pm on TV3 with 12 new passionate home bakers looking to test their skills as they battle it out to be crowned The Great Irish Bake Off’s Best Amateur Baker 2014.

Christmas Shorts Required for RTÉjr
15 May 2014 | RTÉ Young Peoples Programmes wishes to commission a series of Christmas shorts films which will be broadcast throughout the RTÉjr schedule during the two week period around Christmas. 16 x 2'00" (or as agreed with Commissioning Team) are required with a total budget of €45,000.

UTV Ireland Signs with All3 Media International
14 May 2014 | UTV Ireland has today signed a three year agreement with ALL3 Media International for the exclusive broadcast rights in Ireland for new series of ‘Midsomer Murders’, ‘Foyle’s War’, ‘Undeniable’ and ‘Love Your Garden’ as well as all future series of ‘The Cube’ from 2015.

TRTÉ seeks Quiz or Gameshow Series for Young People
14 May 2014 | Young Peoples Programmes are looking for proposals for an entertaining series which for a 7-13 year old audience. The series of 9 x half hour programmes is intended for broadcast in the 5pm weekday slot on RTÉ Two in the Young Peoples schedule. The maximum budget is €245,000.
