IFTA will today, Friday May 21st, present a special online discussion on the making of Wildfire, the debut feature film of Cathy Brady, featuring the brilliant central performances of Nika McGuigan and Nora Jane Noon.
Those interested can join the live Discussion today at 2pm on https://bit.ly/2SbazVK.
Developed and produced with funding from Northern Ireland Screen and Screen Ireland, Wildfire was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival last September and has since featured online at 2020 physical-virtual hybrid edition of the BFI London Film Festival and Cork International Film Festival.
Filmed on location in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, Wildfire stars the late Nika McGuigan (The Secret Scripture, Traders), and Nora-Jane Noone (Brooklyn, The Magdalene Sisters, The Descent), and tells the story of a missing woman who returns home, igniting an intense bond with her sister. United they unearth their mother’s past but the truth has devastating consequences. The legacies of the past are political as well as personal on the Irish border and they soon find themselves on a collision course with everyone around them. Brady’s debut is both a masterclass in unease and a superbly performed study of sibling relations.
Wildfire is produced by David Collins for Samson Films, Charles Steel for Cowboy Films and Carlo Cresta-Dina for Tempesta Film. An Irish-UK co-production, Wildfire is supported by the BFI, Screen Ireland, Northern Ireland Screen and the Wellcome Trust.
