Critically acclaimed director Ken Loach has been awarded the prestigious Réalta Award from Belfast Film Festival for his outstanding contribution to film.
The director is in Belfast today to receive the award from Belfast Film Festival, at an event which takes place in the Movie House, Dublin Road on Tuesday evening.
Ken Loach is the UK’s foremost political filmmaker. He made his feature debut ‘Poor Cow’ in 1967 and two years later directed the critically acclaimed film, ‘Kes’. He is regarded today as one of Europe’s finest filmmakers.

“The Réalta Award from Belfast Film Festival is given in recognition of his career and his lifelong commitment to confronting the powers that be through film, television drama and documentary.”
