November marks record month for UTV Ireland
10 Dec 2015 : Seán Brosnan
UTV Ireland was the second most watched channel in Ireland in peak time in November
November was a record breaking month for UTV Ireland with the channel achieving its highest monthly share of the year to date, at 7.4% for all Individuals. It was the second most-watched channel in Ireland in peak time throughout the month of November, with a share of 10.3% between 6pm and 11.30pm.

On Monday 30th November, UTV Ireland also achieved its highest single day share of the year, with a 12.1% share. Contributing to UTV Ireland’s record month was ‘Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip’, ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’, ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Coronation Street’.

Commenting on UTV Ireland’s audience figures for November, Head of Channel, Mary Curtis, said:

“Recording a 10.3% peak time share for our eleventh month on air is a significant achievement and we are very pleased with the figures. Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip was a great success, with the series generating 270,000 average viewers for UTV Ireland across its six episodes. It also generated strong social media figures, with 2.7 million Facebook posts about the series and over one million Tweets using the series hashtag.”

“UTV Ireland’s broadcast of I’m A Celebrity 2015 is set to become the most watched series of the show ever on a single channel in this country, with a consolidated average audience of 409,000 to date. 420,000 people watched Vicky Pattison being crowned Queen of the Jungle on Sunday night – a number that will rise even further with the addition of time-shifted viewing. Together with an average of 472,000 people watching Coronation Street and 353,000 people watching Emmerdale throughout November, UTV Ireland generated a peak time share of 10.3% for the month.”

Upcoming shows on UTV Ireland include two Christmas specials with chef Kevin Dundon, as well as a series of short tips that will be broadcast throughout the month called ‘Kevin Dundon’s Christmas Cooking Tips’. January 2016 will also see the return of agriculture fly-on-the-wall series, ‘Rare Breed’, which received an average audience of 174,000 earlier this year. ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ and ‘Mr Selfridge’ will also return in 2016 as well as, and brand new dramas like ‘Beowulf’, ‘Jericho’ and ‘Dr Thorne’.

Also speaking about UTV Ireland’s figures throughout November, Commercial Director, Daragh Byrne, said:

“November was also an excellent month for UTV Ireland commercially, building on our success since the channel launched. As well as being the second biggest channel All Day for Adults 15-34 with a share of 7.2%, we had our highest All Day Share of Commercial impacts year to date at 13.4% for adults 15+. We also worked with more brands across both airtime and sponsorship than any month this year.”

UTV Ireland is available on Sky channel 116, Saorview channel 6, Virgin Media channel 110 and eirVision channel 108. UTV Ireland also offers a live stream and catch-up service on www.utv.ie and on the UTV Player, available to download on smart devices.
