Big Mountain’s ‘Wild Ireland’ to air on ITV and UTV Ireland
07 Apr 2015 : Seán Brosnan
‘Wild Ireland’ is directed by Darragh Byrne and produced by Big Mountain Productions
‘Wild Ireland’ is a brand new ITV and UTV Ireland primetime series which sees presenter Christine Bleakley going home to Ireland to travel the length of its 1500 mile west coast - the longest continuous coastal route - known as the Wild Atlantic Way.

Produced by Big Mountain, with support from Northern Ireland Screen, ‘Wild Ireland’ is a six part, 30 minute series and will air on ITV from Monday 13th April 2015 at 8.00pm and on UTV Ireland on Wednesday nights at 9pm from April 15th.

Directed by Darragh Byrne, the show was posted at Windmill Lane Pictures. The DOP of the project was Ronan Fox, sound was completed by Daniel Gaughran and the production manager was Joanne O’ Hagan. Frank Agnew is the series producer.

Starting at the most northerly point of the island, where Christine learns the story of how Ireland first got its name, she then drives, bikes, hikes, swims and kayaks her way along the coastline. On her travels, Christine visits numerous historical sites, takes on some extreme sports, learns about harvesting and preparing local food delicacies and introduces the viewer to some of the most spectacularly landscapes and fascinating history in the world.

Presenter Christine Bleakley says ‘It was such a pleasure to film this series and to get the opportunity to really see, feel and experience Ireland in all its breath-taking glory. Getting to visit places like the Keshcurran Caves in Sligo, the stunning Connemara district and the historic slate quarry in Valentia that roofed the Houses of Parliament has been fascinating and it’s all on Britain’s doorstep. I hope viewers enjoy watching the series as much as I did making it.’

Jane Kelly, Creative Director; Big Mountain says: ‘We had great fun creating and making Wild Ireland. It’s part geographical, part travelogue and Christine is the perfect host, as confident guiding the viewer through the information as she is jumping off the odd cliff!.’

‘Wild Ireland’ will air on ITV at 8pm from Monday 13th April and on UTV Ireland from Wednesday 15th April at 9pm.
