Ryan Tubridy returns tonight, Friday September 3rd with a brand new season of ‘The Late Late Show’, the world's longest running chat show. The first show of the new season will feature Tony Blair, Donncha O’Callaghan, Jedward and Imelda May. Ryan's first season as host proved a big success, attracting good ratings along with hosting the most successful Toy Show in 15 years.
Directed by Niamh White (Tubridy Tonight), tonight’s ‘Late Late Show’ will be Tony Blair's first live television interview since the publication of his autobiography 'A Journey' earlier this week. Also on the show tonight are Munster rugby star Donncha O'Callaghan, former 'X Factor' stars Jedward and singer Imelda May. Speaking about his first show of the season, Ryan said: "We have a fantastic line-up for tonight's show and I'm particularly pleased that Tony Blair will be my first guest of the season.
"He has been on my wish-list for some time and there is a huge amount to talk to him about, from his involvement in the Northern Ireland peace process to the war in Iraq. Plus we have a hugely eclectic mix of musicians from Jedward to Imelda May to some of the finest trad musicians in the country. It's safe to say that there will be something for everyone on tonight's show." This season’s series producer is Jim Jennings (The Podge and Rodge Show) and the executive producer is Michael Kealy (Prime Time). The show’s set designer is Daragh Treacy (The Sunday Game).
Some of last year’s guests included Taoiseach Brian Cowen; Donal Óg Cusack; Brian O'Driscoll; Peter Kay; Bernard Dunne; Gerry Adams; Miley Cyrus; and Colin Farrell. This season hopes to be even bigger with a mix of international celebrities, music and entertainment along with in-depth interviews and discussions centring around current affairs.
Speaking about the upcoming new season Ryan voiced his excitement at returning to the host’s chair:“It's great to have the first season under my belt.” He said. “We have some really exciting names lined up for the new season so I'm really looking forward to getting the show on the road.”
‘The Late Late Show’ will broadcast tonight, Friday, September 3rd at 9.35pm on RTÉ1.
