‘Hardy Bucks’ returning with six episode season
RTÉ have confirmed that the third season of ‘Hardy Bucks’ is currently being filmed and will air on RTÉ2 in the autumn of this year.

Six episodes of the popular comedy are currently being filmed in Swinford, Co. Mayo with Martin Maloney, Chris Tordoff and Owen Colgan all reprising their roles, as well as being joined this season by actresses Aoibheann McCaul (‘Fair City’) and Susan Loughnane (‘Love/Hate’).

Produced by Hardy Films, ‘Hardy Bucks’ became an online hit after winning RTÉ’s Storyland competition in 2009. It subsequently aired for two seasons and a Christmas special on RTÉ2 where it proved such a success with audiences that a film was commissioned. ‘Hardy Bucks The Movie’ was released in 2012 and was the highest opening new release in Ireland on its’ opening weekend, earning an impressive €176,877 from 57 locations.

The series is written by Martin Moloney, Chris Tordiff and Mike Cockayne, with Cockayne also directing and producing.

The new series will see The Viper trying to mend a broken heart whilst running a new business venture, as well as the lads getting caught up in a Mayo love triangle.

‘Hardy Bucks’ Producer and Director Mike Cockayne commented: “It’s great to be back filming again, we’re like family now and I really feel that this series will be the best yet. The lads are all on top form and the biggest challenge we’re going to face is fitting all of this great material into a half hour.”

Channel Controller for RTÉ2 Bill Malone said: “RTÉ2 is passionate about creating original Irish comedy and I’m delighted to announce that Hardy Bucks is returning to RTÉ2 for a third series. After the success of their feature film, viewers will get to see what’s next for the Hardy Bucks crew.”
