The winners of the Corona Cork Film Festival short film awards were announced over the weekend concluding yet another successful festival.
The Best Irish Short Film Award went to Cecilia McAllister’s treatment of mental health in her short ‘Féileachán/Driving Lesson’ and The Claire Lynch Award for Best First-Time Irish Director of a Short Film has gone to ‘The Door’, directed by Juanita Wilson.
The ‘Made In Cork’ Award for Best Short Film went to ‘Matty Kiely’s Last Day’ by Ed Godsell. ‘An Foireann Codladh,’ directed by Danann Breathnach, collected the Gradam Gael Linn for Best Short Film in the Irish Language.
The award of the Festival for Best Short Film was picked up by Jorn Staeger (Germany) for his short ‘Journey To The Forest’. Conor Clement’s ‘James’ scooped the Outlook Award for Best LGBT Short Film and the Audience Award for Best Irish Short Film went to ’Out Of The Blue’ directed by Michael Lavelle.
International winners included ’2 Birds’ (Iceland) which won Best International Short Film directed by Rúnar Rúnarsson, while the Prix UIP Cork for Best European Short Film went to ’14’ (England) by Asitha Ameresekere.
The Audience Award for Best International Short Film went to on ‘On The Line’ by Reto Caffi from Switzerland and the Youth Jury Award for Best International Short Film went to ‘Giants’ (Italy)directed by Fabio Mollo.
