Sé Merry Doyle started his career in the Project Theatre working with people like Jim and Peter Sheridan, Gabriel Byrne and Liam Neeson. After a very successful period as a lighting designer and stage director, he switched to the medium of film.

Starting as a trainee editor with Windmill Lane, Sé Merry Doyle went on to become a film editor on many Irish films, including 'Our Boys' and 'Pigs' for Cathal Black, and the award winning, 'Reefer and the Model' for Joe Cumerford. In tandem with drama based work, Se developed an editing relationship with one of the worlds great feature documentary film makers, John T.Davis. His most recent collaboration with John was 'The Uncle Jack', which he edited and co-directed.

Other notable work includes the Russian feature 'Micha' edited at Len Film St. Petersburg for Gerald Michael McCarthy. 'Poorhouse' a famine based drama for Frank Stapleton, 'Most Important' for PJ. Dillon and 'Brood' directed by Frankie McCafferty.

In the area of music, Se has edited numerous pop videos for people like Van Morrison, UB40, and Kila, plus two music documentaries for the BBC Classic Album Series- Stevie Wonder 'Songs in the Key of Life', and Fleetwood Mac 'Rumours'.

Sé Merry Doyle operates from Dublin. He has his own edit facility in Loopline Films, which he set up in 1992 with the express purpose of creating a company dedicated to the art of creative documentaries. The first Loopline production was James Gandon-A Life, which Se directed and Bernadine Carragher produced. Loopline went on to make the six-part series 'A Good Age' again with the same team directing and producing. Loopline then embarked on a four part series on folklife for BBC and RTE; 'Hidden Treasures' was the result, with Ann O Leary directing and Martina Durack producing.

Loopline has produced the innovative book series 'Imprint' with Martina Durac producing. 'Alive Alive O', a feature documentary on the subject of street traders in Dublin, directed by Se and produced by Bernadine Carragher, was recently awarded a prize at the Galway Film Fleadh. Seven years in the making, 'Alive Alive O', chronicles the battle to preserve this unique way of life, and features the poetry of Paula Meehan, music of Ger Keily and songs by Frank Harte.

At present Loopline and Se are busy working on some new ventures, including the Liam McGrath directed, 'Young, Gifted and Bored', a film focusing on the world of extraordinarily gifted young people. Se is currently editing 'Travellers' a film which is a joint collaboration between John T. Davis and the renowned photographer Alan McWeeney. The film features photographs of travellers taken in the 1960's and follows their stories to the present day.
