‘Olinda’, a short animation from Irish School of Animation (Ballyfermot College of Further Education) graduate, Bruno Palma, has been selected from over 200 submissions as one of 18 films to be screened as part the Animarte 2009 Festival.
Animarte looks to showcase the best animation shorts from around the world and brings them to cities throughout South America. This year, Animarte will be shown at various locations including Viña del Mar (Chile), Mendoza (Argentina) and Buenos Aires (Argentina). It is unknown when these screenings will occur.
‘Olinda’ deals with the topic of transformation by examining the metamorphosis of a young girl into a woman. It is created by Bruno Palma with music composed by Daragh Hynes and sound effects provided by Michael Clarke.
Gareth Lee, Programme Leader of the BA (Hons) Animation at the Irish School of Animation tells IFTN: “I think it's a fantastic achievement for Bruno Palma's 'Olinda' to be selected alongside academy award nominee Bill Plympton’s ‘Horn Dog’, as well as short animations from prestigious International animation schools like ESMA School of Arts (Montpellier), Filmakademie (Baden-Württemberg) and Gobelins (Paris). It's a great reflection both on Bruno's talent as an animator and on the animation staff at the Irish School of Animation at Ballyfermot College.”
