Irish feature films Redemption of a Rogue and ‘Wildfire’ will be available to rent free of charge at this year’s Europe on Screen Festival.
The Europe on Screen festival will take place online from September 15th - 27th. All the films at the festival will be available on Festival Scope.
Redemption of a Rogue will be available to rent on September 18th at 2pm. Prodigal son Jimmy (Aaron Monaghan) returns to his hometown to seek salvation for his sins, only to find himself stuck in a Groundhog-Day like purgatory. Jimmy must then embark on a sacrificial and outlandish journey to rid himself of his past guilt and shame.
Redemption of a Rogue won Best Feature Film and Best Debut Irish Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh 2020.
Wildfire will be available to rent on September 23rd at 2pm. Two sisters (Nora-Jane Noone, Nika McGuigan) who grew up on the fractious Irish border are reunited. Together, they unearth their mother’s past and find secrets and resentments that have been buried deep and threaten to overwhelm them.
Wildfire director Cathy Brady won Best Director Film and Nika McGuigan was posthumously awarded Best Lead Actress Film at this year’s IFTA awards.
