Oscar and IFTA-winning Irish director Benjamin Cleary is set to helm the feature film Swan Song for Apple TV+.
Details of the project are being kept firmly under wraps but it has been described as a “A genre-bending drama that is set in the near future, Swan Song explores how far someone will go, and how much they’ll sacrifice, to make a better life for the people they love.”
Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Green Book and Moonlight) will star as Milo. The film, which is also written by Cleary, will be produced by Ali, alongside Adam Shulman (Defending Jacob) and Jacob Perlin (The Amazing Johnathan) for Anonymous Content (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich.)
Cleary won the Oscar for Best Short Film (Live-Action) for Stutterer in 2016, and is a multiple Irish Film & Television Award winner, claiming the top prize for Best Short Film for both Stutterer and Wave (Alongside co-director TJ O’Grady Peyton) in 2018. Cleary is currently completing post-production on Glimpse, a short set in the imaginative mind of a heartbroken panda named Herbie which stars Taron Egerton.
