The Irish feature documentary, ‘School Life’, directed by Neasa Ní
Chianáin and David Rane is now available on DVD and to rent on VOD, for limited release in Ireland only, via the films website.
Starting life as ‘In Loco Parentis’ with a world premiere and five sold-out screenings at IDFA, followed by a North American premiere and another five fullhouses at Sundance, sold out screenings here in Ireland at DIFF, and Guth Gafa Film Festival, the film went on to have a great theatrical run in IFI and Omniplex cinemas.
The film was then acquired by Magnolia Pictures for world distribution rights, and, since then, ‘School Life’ has travelled all over the world, winning the hearts of audiences from 32 states around the US, to the far North of Canada down to the deep south of Australia.
‘School Life’ follows John and Amanda Leyden who teach Latin, English and Guitar at Headfort, a fantastical stately-home-turned-boarding school for under 12s.
The documentary follows them as their near fifty year career together draws to a close for the teachers who have become legends with the mantra: Reading! Rithmetic! Rock n Roll! … but for pupil and teacher alike, leaving is the hardest lesson to learn.
School Life can be watched online on Vimeo-on-Demand or you can buy on DVD
