Making the Cut

Deadline Friday March 10th: IMRO / RTÉ Scoring For Film Program 2017
09 Mar 2017 : Katie McNeice
Emerging Irish filmmakers and composers will be brought together for the workshop, which is run in association with Filmbase, The Contemporary Music Centre (CMC) and Screen Training Ireland, taking place in June 2017.

The one-day recording session will see the RTÉ Concert Orchestra performing and recording original scores for up to four short film submissions received from emerging Irish filmmakers.

This provides participants with hands-on experience in an essential post-production area, in addition to the rare opportunity to have a score composed for full orchestra.

Filmmakers should submit projects not exceeding twelve minutes, which require original scored music and which are close to or have completed picture lock.

Selected filmmakers will work with a composer who will create a score for the film to be performed and recorded by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

Additionally filmmakers may submit a short film or film excerpt from a longer project, for which three to five minutes of original score will be created. All categories are accepted, whether animation, drama, documentary or otherwise.

Projects should be close to completion on editing, but un-sound edited/mixed. The use of temp tracks or “mood music” where score is required is allowed but not required.

To apply send link to your film submission to keith.johnson @ imro.ie or alternatively by post to:
