The Academy which is funded by Screen Training Ireland and the BAI aims to uncover the next generation of Irish writers for television.
The course is aimed at writers wishing to gain further experience in writing for continuing drama/soap.
Eight participants will be selected to partake in an intensive course on writing for ‘Red Rock’ and then complete a shadow/trial script.
The initial intensive classroom training will run from October 3rd-7th with tutor John Yorke. The deadline for applications is Friday, August 26th.
The training will include guest lectures from ‘Red Rock’ showrunner Kim Revill and Series Producer Paul Walker, a set tour and intensive classes on the structure of the hit show.
The final step of the training will require participants to leave the classroom and write a mock script of ‘Red Rock’, in the same time pattern as a real commission. In this seven week period, they will receive a combination of Skype and personal sessions with the course tutor/course editor.
Submissions require an up-to-date CV, full-length script plus a pitch on why the writer feels they are an appropriate candidate for the course.
