The 2015 Cannes Festival has only just kicked off but Irish animated film ‘Two by Two – Oops…The Art Is Gone’ has already secured further distribution deals.
The film, which is now playing in Irish cinemas, is part of the Irish sales delegation at the Cannes Film Festival. Rights have now been sold to France (Paradis Films), Spain (Flins & Piniculas), Hungary/Romania (ADS Service Ltd), Czech Republic (Bohemia Motion Pictures), Iceland (Sam-Film), Japan (Zazie Films Inc), Thailand (Joyncontents Group), Malaysia (Suraya Filem Ltd.) and Myanmar (Yejilim Entertainment).
The film was co-produced by Galway-based Moetion Films (Moe Honan) and was directed by Toby Genkel and Sean McCormack - with funding from the IFB - and centres on two Nestrians (clumsy, silly-looking, brightly coloured creatures whose only skills are making comfortable nests and secreting a foul smelling cloud of gas whenever they get scared), who, facing the end of the world via biblical flood, discover that their species are not allowed on Noah’s ark.
Stephen McKeon composed the score for the film which was co-written by Richie Conroy and features the voices of young actors Callum Maloney and Ava Connolly (both of Maureen V Ward Talent Agency in Clondalkin).
Full sound post on the film was carried out at Ardmore Sound and Screen Scene (check out our interview with some of the sound guys on the film here).
Earlier this year eOne acquired distribution for the U.S., Canada, and Australia/New Zealand, with Eagle Pictures taking Italy, and Scanbox the Scandinavian territories. Other buyers include Flame Node (China), 2i Film (Balkan region), Pictureworks (India), and Silverbird (African region).
Last year, Global Screen sold the film to distributors in Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, South Korea, Poland, Portugal, Israel, Latin America, the Middle East , Turkey, Bulgaria, Iran, and Indonesia.
