The British writer of the award-winning BBC drama ‘Line of Duty’ will attend a masterclass in Belfast in October.
A former hospital physician and Royal Air Force Officer, Mercurio brings an American-style show running quality to U.K television. Mercurio’s latest drama ‘Bodyguard’ has received rave reviews since its premiere in August, becoming the highest rated U.K drama since 2006.
His other credits include ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover’, ‘Critical’, ‘Strike Back’, ‘Bodies’, ‘The Grimleys' and ‘Cardiac Arrest’. Both ‘Bodies’ and ‘Line of Duty’ have gone on to win Royal Television Society Awards for Best Drama Series.
In 2018, ‘Line of Duty’ won the Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Drama Series, whilst Mercurio picked up the award for Best Writer. Northern Irishman, Adrian Dunbar was also nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for his performance in the programme earlier this year.
The masterclass will take place on Wednesday 24th October from 7pm to 9pm at The Works at the Mac in Belfast.
