Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been cast as Dracula in a 10-part series for major US network NBC.
'The Tudors' star will play the iconic vampire, who was created by Irish novelist Bram Stoker, in a show which bypassed the pilot stage and is going straight to series.

Cillian Murphy's 'Broken' and Kirsten Sheridan's 'Dollhouse' were among the winners at the Odessa International Film Festival in Ukraine.
'Broken', adapted from Daniel Clay's novel of the same name by Irish screenwriter Mark O'Rowe (Intermission), won the festival's Grand Prix prize and with it a cash prize of 15,000 dollars. The film was directed by Rufus Norris and features Murphy, Tim Roth and Rory Kinnear among its cast members.

Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has filmed a scene for HBO series 'Game of Thrones', he announced on the band's Facebook page.
Lightbody, from Bangor in Co Down, posted a photo of himself in costume online with the caption: "So I did my scene this morning for 'Game of Thrones'. I looked like this. Can't say much just it's no pivotal role. Fun!"

RTÉ is to rename and rebrand its distribution and transmission company RTÉNL as part of its ongoing cost-cutting measures.
The broadcaster will appoint a new board of directors, including independent directors, along with a new independent chairman, for the subsidiary, which was established as a separate company in 2003. RTÉNL's headquarters will also be located away from RTÉ's Dublin campus in Donnybrook.

Sony have unveiled their new PMW-200 handheld camcorder, which comes with three half-inch Exmor CMOS sensors and full HD 4:2:2 50Mbps recording.
The half-inch sensors mean the camcorder performs well under challenging lighting conditions. The handheld PMW-200 is the latest in the media giant's XDCAM HD422 range.
