BROADCAST | Cork-shot Lusitania Documentary To Air On National Geographic

A two-hour National Geographic documentary filmed off the coast of Kinsale, Co Cork, at the wreck of passenger liner RMS Lusitania is to be broadcast this Sunday (July 15) at 7pm. 'The Dark Secrets of the Lusitania' was filmed last August on a budget of €1.5m and co-produced by Cork-based M3 TV Productions and US production company Creative Differences under the banner of Lusitania Productions. more

PRODUCTION | U2 Producer Steve Lillywhite Attached To New RTÉ Music Format 'The Hit'

Production is due to begin next Wednesday (July 18) on a new original format show for RTÉ entitled 'The Hit' with Grammy Award-winner and U2 producer Steve Lillywhite attached to the project. Developed by Dublin-based Vision Independent Productions (VIP), 'The Hit' is a music-based format which will see eight Irish songwriters battle it out to get their song recorded by a successful artist. more

PRODUCTION | Irish Doc 'Three Men Go To War' To Wrap Filming Next Month

IFTA-winning production company Crossing the Line Films are to wrap filming on their documentary 'Three Men Go To War' next month ahead of an October air-date in the US. The documentary on the Cuban Missile Crisis has seen directors John Murray (Blood of the Irish) and Emer Reynolds (My Brothers, Editor) and producer Siobhan Ward (Broken Tail) film footage all around the world, taking in countries such as Cuba, Russia and America. more

IFTA-winning Irish actress Sarah Bolger has been cast as Sleeping Beauty in major US drama, 'Once Upon A Time'. The Dublin-born 21-year-old will recur in the second season of the ABC fantasy drama as Princess Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty in the series, which is due to be aired this autumn. more
PRODUCTION | Irish-shot Jimi Hendrix Biopic Will Feature No Hendrix Songs
'All Is By My Side', the Jimi Hendrix biopic currently filming in Ireland, will not feature any Hendrix songs in the film, it has been confirmed. As previously reported by IFTN, the Irish co-production starring Outkast star Andre Benjamin (aka Andre 3000) as Hendrix has not received permission from the Hendrix estate to use any of the rock icon's music in the biopic. more
PRODUCTION | 'Game of Thrones' Casting Rumours Begin Ahead of Comic-Con Panel
British actors Mackenzie Crook and Tara Fitzgerald are rumoured to have been cast in 'Game of Thrones' season three, which starts filming in Belfast this month. Crook, best known for his role as Gareth Keenan in 'The Office', is reportedly set to play Vargo 'The Goat' Hoat in the HBO series, while Fitzgerald, a regular on BBC series 'Waking the Dead', is rumoured to play Selyse Florent, the wife of Stannis Baratheon, played by Stephen Dillane (John Adams). more

RTÉ has appointed Kevin Bakhurst as managing director of its News and Current Affairs. Irish actor Emmett J Scanlan has been nominated for three Inside Soap Awards for his role as Brendan Brady in Channel 4 soap 'Hollyoaks'. The nominations come just days after Scanlan was nominated for Best Soap Actor for this year's TV Choice Awards. more
