FINANCE | IFB Dishes Up €2.6million+ in Funding Decisions

Recipients of the latest funding loans from the Irish Film Board (IFB) have been announced. A grand total of €2,660,317 was awarded to 47 projects overall. Among the many funding highlights is writer-director John Michael McDonagh's 'Calvary', which has been given a provisional offer of commitment from the IFB. more
PRODUCTION | 'Game of Thrones' Season Three Gets Greenlight
Game of Thrones
Fantasy adventure 'Game of Thrones' has been given the greenlight for a third season following record ratings for season two. The popular HBO series, which was shot at the Paint Hall Studio in Belfast, grossed 3.8 million viewers for the second episode in series two, and is already expected to surpass season one's average ratings of 9.3 million. more

The Tyrone Guthrie Centre, the residential workplace for artists, has announced a new bursary for filmmakers and scriptwriters. The bursary will offer one successful applicant, or a pair collaborating on a project, the opportunity to use the Annaghmakerrig workplace in County Monaghan to work on projects for one week. more

The deadline for applications for the Northern Ireland Screen-supported Cultural Landmark Documentary is fast approaching at 30 April 2012. Northern Ireland Screen will support the winning documentary with the use of Lottery Funds provided through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. The documentary will be a production of a Northern Ireland-based production company for development for the financial year 2012-2013. more

Irish writer and director Gavin FitzGerald has entered post-production on his short film 'Raymond'. The six-minute short tells the story of a delusional taxi driver who remains positive in a hectic world. It was produced by Sibéal Davitt (Buaicphointe) and stars Tommy O'Neill (Fair City, The General) as Raymond. more
