FINANCE | BAI-Funded Projects commence production
BAI Sound and Vision
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has funded seven projects for production through the BAI's Broadcasting Funding Scheme - Sound and Vision II. The projects, made up of three television and four radio productions, received €553,200 in funding. more

DISTRIBUTION | Irish Feature 'Citadel' Secures US Distribution
'Citadel', the Irish award-winning film from first-time writer/director Ciaran Foy has been jointly bought for US distribution by Cinedigm and New Video. Cinedigm will begin distributing the horror feature film in US cinemas this autumn, with New Video set to distribute on digital, DVD/Blu-ray and on-demand platforms from early next year.. more
INDUSTRY | Ireland's First Odeon Cinema Opens For Business
Ireland's first Odeon cinema will officially open to the public today (March 27) at the Point Village in Dublin's Docklands. The 1,011-seat cinema boasts six screens, including the first ISENSE screen in the UK or Ireland. It has been designed, Odeon say, to play host to a number of international film premieres. more
ANIMATION | 'Doc McStuffins' Breaks Records For Ireland's Brown Bag Films And Disney
Ireland's Brown Bag Films are celebrating after the series premiere of their new animated series, 'Doc McStuffins', broke ratings records for the Disney Channel. The 52-part animated series premiered in the US last Friday on Disney's recently launched Disney Junior channel and was produced by Brown Bag in Ireland in association with Disney. more
PRODUCTION | Irish Director Dearbhla Walsh Begins Filming For 'Borgia' Season Two
IFTA Award-winning Irish director Dearbhla Walsh (The Silence) has signed up for a second series of Renaissance-based drama 'Borgia'. No stranger to period dramas, having previously worked on Irish drama 'The Tudors' and the Charles Dickens adaptation 'Little Dorrit', for which she received an Emmy Award, Walsh will work alongside German film director Christoph Schrewe (The Sea Wolf) to direct 12 hour-long episodes. more
REP-BODIES | IFB Frameworks Offers €50,000 Funding for Animation
The deadline for the Irish Film Board (IFB) short animation scheme, Frameworks, has been announced. Applicants have until Friday 20th April to submit their projects to be in with a chance to receive up to €50,000 in funding from the IFB, in conjunction with the Arts Council, BAI and RTÉ. more

Pre-production has started on independent short film 'A House of Cards' which is scheduled to begin shooting in Dublin on 16th April. 'A House of Cards' will give an insight in to a difficult family reunion coming to terms with their mother's illness. more

'Titanic' gave TV3 their biggest Sunday night TV audience of the year with an average of more than a quarter of million viewers tuning into the first episode of the four-part series from screenwriter Julian Fellowes. more
PRODUCTION | Tyrone To Film Irish Documentary At MIP
Tyrone Productions are to shoot a documentary on the television industry at this year's series of MIP conferences in Cannes this weekend. RTE have commissioned the independent production company to make 'The Future of Television', which will be aired on RTE in September. more
FESTIVALS | "Great Reception" for Irish at Boston Film Festival
The Boston Irish Film Festival celebrated its 13th year last weekend with a string of sold out screenings and Q&A's with some of Ireland's leading industry experts in attendance. The Irish titles screening at the event received a "great reception" from the US crowd, says Festival chief Dawn Morrissey. more
