| AWARDS | IFTA 2012 Call for Entries Now Open, Deadline 29 November | |
The Irish Film & Television Academy has announced the call for entries for the 9th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards is now open. Submissions in 40 Awards categories will be accepted online at the IFTA website www.ifta.ie until 3pm Tuesday 29th of November 2011.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has since changed its rules, opening up a new market in Ireland. | AWARDS | Galway Fleadh Shorts Earn Oscar Qualification | |
The US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has accepted Ireland's Galway Film Fleadh as a qualifying festival in their annual Awards Short Film Catgories.The winners of the Fleadh's James Horgan Award for best animation and the Tiernan McBride Award for best short drama will automatically qualify for Oscar consideration without the standard theatrical run.

| Sideline has produced three shorts written and preformed by Irish comedy duo The Rubberbandits for a new online initiative for Channel 4 in the UK. The new initiative called Comedy Blaps, saw over 500 companies apply for eight slots from all over the UK and Ireland. more |

| Netflix Inc. has announced the addition of Miramax films to it’s systems in the UK and Ireland after the signing of multi-year digital licensing agreement.
