The national launch of Saorview, RTÉs free to air DTT service, took place today, May 26th and was attended by Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte. The launch of Saorview forms an integral part of Ireland's national digital switchover strategy which provides for the ultimate closure of the analogue TV network at the end of 2012.

| FUNDING | 'Stella Days', 'Earthbound' & 'Superhero' Get MEDIA i2i Funds | |
The results of the most recent MEDIA i2i funding decisions have been announced and see €62,613 awarded to three Irish companies including Newgrange Pictures for 'Stella Days'; Grand Pictures for 'Death of a Superhero' and Paper Dreams/Ripple World Pictures for 'Earthbound'. The deadline for the next round of i2i funding is Monday, June 6th.

| The funeral took place on Friday May 20th for veteran Irish actor, Alan Devlin. The stage and screen veteran died suddenly on Friday, May 13th at the age of 64. He is best known for his roles in films such as 'War of the Buttons', 'Song for a Raggy Boy', 'Bloom' and 'The Wednesdays' and for Noel Pearson's stage version of 'HMS Pinafore'.more |
