Ger Ryan, Sean T. O'Meallaigh and Amy-Joyce Hastings
Amy-Joyce Hastings (Fools of Fortune), Seán T. O'Meallaigh (Kings) and IFTA winner Ger Ryan (Intermission) will star in new Irish feature 'The Callback Queen'. The feature, directed by Graham Cantwell (Trapped) is set to shoot in London and Galway from April 15th until May 21st. more
FUNDING | ILBF Funds Docs, Factual Ent. & Animation

Following the recent meeting of the Investment Committee of the ILBF, The Irish Language Broadcast Fund has announced its latest funding decisions. Awards were made across several genre of programming, including documentaries, factual entertainment & re-versioned animation. The deadlines for the second and third rounds this year are May 27th and September 30th respectively. more

A new feature length drama from 'Between the Canals' director, Mark O'Connor will start shooting in July. 'Grooskill' will centre around feuding members of the traveller community and the film will shoot for approximately five weeks. O'Connor's 'Between the Canals' is continuing its growing theatrical release having opened at Movies@ in Dundrum recently. more
BROADCAST | 'Camelot' & 'The Borgias' Make US Ratings Splash

The April 1st US premiere of the first two episodes of 'Camelot' on the Starz network drew in the largest ever opening for a new drama series on Starz, exceeding the highly successful Spartacus premiere. PRODUCTION | June Shoot Confirmed for 'Feirm Factor' 4
Production on the fourth series of 'Feirm Factor' is set to commence this coming June. The broadcast of the third series came to a close at the end of March where Gavin Satchwell was crowned winner of the series. The fourth series will be directed and produced by Evan Chamberlain (Hector I gCeanada) and will again be shot in locations across Ireland. more
COMPETITIONS | Votes Tallied for Storyland Comp Semi-Finalists
The results of the latest round of RTÉ's Storyland competition were announced on April 6th as Kilkenny based comedy 'Rent a Friend' (pictured) and Dublin based comedy 'The Last Security Man'. The projects will now join fellow shortlisted projects, 'The Outlaw Concy Ryan' and 'Lucky Run' in the bid to winning the 2011 Storyland competition. Voting for the next round of the competition launches on Wednesday, April 27th. more
PRODUCTION | Rosanna Davison & Calum Best Join 'Salon' 2nd Series
Straywave Media is currently in production with a second series of 'Celebrity Salon' for TV3. FESTIVAL | Poland Festival Fetes New Irish Cinema
Poland's Off Plus Camera International Festival of Independent Cinema will introduce a new section at this year's event entitled New Irish Cinema. The titles selected to be shown include Conor Horgan's 'One Hundred Mornings'; Paul Fraser's 'My Brothers' and Carmel Winter's 'Snap'. Furthermore, Tom Hall's 'Sensation' will screen as part of the Festival's Make Way line-up. more
BROADCAST | CBS Orders 'Secret Fortune' Pilot
US network CBS has ordered a pilot of Wild Rover's quizshow 'Secret Fortune'. The move follows productions of the Wild Rover Production's format commencing in France, Australia, Finland, Turkey and the Middle East amongst many other global locations. News comes in the wake of Wild Rover's original format of the show being re-commissioned for a second series by BBC Entertainment. more
REP-BODIES | BFI Takes UKFC Reigns With £3m Fund Increase
As of Friday, April 1st the British Film Institute (BFI) has taken on the economic, cultural and educational roles formerly held by the UK Film Council. The BFI will now replace the UKFC as the Lottery distributor for film funding in the UK and the body's chair, Greg Dyke has announced that the group is to increase funding for UK film production from £15m to £18m. more
TRAINING | Irish Producers Wanted for Inside Pics 2011
Business training and leadership skills development programme, Inside Pictures, has launched its 2011 programme and is now looking for applicants. In this, its eighth year, the programme is open to EU participants both inside and outside the UK. more
AWARDS | Emmett Scanlan 'Casanova' Wins ECU Actor Award
Irish actor, Emmett Scanlan walked away with the Best Film Actor Award at the recent ECU European Independent Film Festival for his performance in Independent Irish feature, 'Charlie Casanova'. Written, produced and directed by Terry McMahon, Charlie Casanova had its European Premiere in Paris where it was the only Irish film selected for the Best European Dramatic Feature competition and Emmett Scanlan is the first Irish actor to win this award. more
